Unlike other concept projects in which Mercedes exhaustively tests out new technical innovations that years later will be applied in series models, Mercedes with Ocean Drive focuses more on the stylistic part. In this case it calls attention to a model sedan of great size, elegance and luxury and at the same time convertible, a trend completely unused in the time that it was presented, but that had its moment of glory in the 50’s and 60’s with models of Lincoln, Duesenberg, etc.
Based on the S600, it is equipped with a V12 motor with 517 HP. It has a canvas roof that can expand and fold up in 20 seconds and, although it has many luxury elements, it includes various technical advances:
-The Airscarf system that warms the neck of the passengers, allowing heat to circulate without the roof up, even on cold days.
-The PRE-SAFE brake system that, combined with the DISTRONIC PLUS system with radar technology, allows for a safe distance between vehicles; when it detects the possibility of an impact with an approaching car, the system starts to brake and tense the seat belts.
-LEDs in the headlights and taillights.
The Spark miniature is very elegant and has many details true to the original model:
-Steering wheel slightly flattened at the bottom
-Movie screens in the back of the headrests of the front seats
-Painted a 2-tone color of soft gold
-Detailed windshield wipers
-Seat belts with buckle
-Silver gas and brake pedals
-Etc
