Aston Martin DB4 (Vitesse 1/43)

Vitesse 1/43 Aston Martin DB4 1958

The Aston Martin DB4 is a sports car produced by Aston Martin between 1958 and 1963. This car has truly Italian roots, although it was the first car to be built in the new British based factory, in Buckinghamshire, England. The car drew interest to itself with its new, continental appearance. But it wasn’t only its aesthetics which had been developed since its predecessor (the Aston Martin DB Mark III); it had undergone a big change in its interior workings, too. It had a tubular structure, with a lightweight alloy chassis, alongside a dual overhead cam, 3670 cc engine. This combination created an extraordinary new vehicle. It was unveiled for the first time in 1958 at the London Motor Show. There were various versions of this car, including the DB4 Convertible, DB4 GT, DB4 GT Zagato, DB4 Vantage, and the DB4 Vantage GT.

The convertible was unveiled in 1962, but only 70 were made. It had a top speed of 219kph (136mph) in comparison to that of the original which is 224kph (139mph). The DB4 GT, however, has a much higher top speed of 246 kmh (151 mph). This is because the car was designed predominantly to have a better performance than its original. The DB4 GT was built to be much more lightweight.

The DB4 GT Zagato was a version of the original, improved in the Zagato factory in Italy. It was brought out in 1960, but only 29 units were made. Nowadays, they sell for more than £1 million (1.6 million dollars).
